Falloff
Distance-based animation. Layers near a field's center react first and strongest, outer ones follow with diminishing intensity.
What it does
Falloff animates a selection by distance from a field. Layers near the center of the field react first and strongest; outer layers follow with diminishing intensity. It's the engine behind reveals, ripples, and crowd motion. You shape a field on the canvas, and the tool distributes the animation across your layers by how far each one sits from the source.
Select the layers, shape the field, then bake.
Interactive lesson: Falloff
A guided, click-through tour of Falloff in the live plugin, locked to this tool. No Figma needed.
Layers tab
Pick a field Shape: Radial (distance from a point), Linear (distance from a line; drag the rotate handle to angle it), or Layer (use a selected layer as a moving source; click a layer in the preview to set it).
Click the canvas to place the center, then drag the inner and outer ring handles to size the falloff and the power ring to set strength. Switch between Start and End keyframes to animate the field itself moving across the selection.
Affect
Toggle and drag the Pos, Scale, Rot, and Opac squares to set how much each property responds to the field. Double-click a square to type an exact value, and use the link icon to tie X and Y together so they scale as one.
Trim Paths tab
Select stroke layers (open path, center stroke, no dashes) to animate their trim start and end, the classic line-draw-on effect. Choose a Line or Region falloff, a preset (Draw On/Off, Reveal/Wipe Center), and an easing.
Simple animates a single sweep across the selection; Complex gives you per-keyframe control when one sweep isn't enough.
Preview & bake
Use Play or the mini-timeline to scrub the result. Strength and Steps control the overall intensity and the keyframe density. Bake Keyframes writes the result to the timeline; Clear removes all managed tracks from the selection.
