Echo

Spawn decaying copies that lag behind a layer as it moves, a motion trail that thins and fades with each echo.

What it does

Echo spawns decaying-opacity copies that lag behind a layer's existing baked motion, a motion-blur, smear, or ghost-trail substitute. Your source layer is never touched; the echoes are real cloned nodes that follow the original a beat behind and fade toward the tail.

Bake motion first

Echo post-processes motion another tool baked. It doesn't create movement of its own. Animate the layer with Camera Man, Physik, Gestural Motion, Babel, or Repeater first; it needs at least a Position (Translation) track to trail. With no motion on the layer you'll see a hint instead of a trail.

Controls

The core controls set how long and how heavy the tail is, and which tracks the echoes inherit.

Echoes
How many trailing copies (1–24).
Spacing
The time lag between each echo.
Opacity fade
Fades echoes toward the tail (each echo = source × (1 − fade)^i).
Scale shrink
Optionally shrinks echoes toward the tail.
Echo tracks
Chooses which tracks ride along: Position always, Scale and Rotation optional.

Per-copy offsets

Beyond a straight trail, per-copy offsets tilt and spread the echoes: Off Rotation adds degrees per echo, Off Scale adds a percentage per echo, and Off X / Off Y add pixels per echo, enough to bend a trail into a spiral or a fan.

Clear

Clear removes every echo it created (nodes tagged on bake). The original layer is left untouched.
